Wikipedia currently describes burlesque as humorous entertainment involving parody and grotesque exaggeration. My aesthetic isn’t far off. Sometimes it even shows up in my art. Inspired by cycles of the natural world, subcultures, taboos and human idiosyncrasy, I create pieces that encourage interactivity with viewers through touch and sight. Like any effective performer, I hope my audience looks twice as they see that subtle flash of the forbidden in their peripheral vision.
